I got invited to my first joust in April of 1999 by
a couple of friends who insisted that I had to try
it. Well, my son Nathan (who was almost 11yrs.
old) and I went to a spring jousting clinic and we
both had a great time. That was all it took to hook
us, and we began jousting with the Amateur
Jousting Club of Maryland the following
weekend. We both started in the same class, as
does everyone, and have been "fiercely"
competing against each other ever since. In 2002,
we both earned our way into the 2nd or Amateur
class about 2 weeks apart-- Nathan was the first
to move up. We have been privileged to be
among the original founders of the Pennsylvania
Jousting Club and hope to continue to see the
sport grow in our home state.
